British Colonial Rule
The British military occupation of Palestine and the imposition of European colonial rule on the territory in 1918 marked an irrevocable turning point in the modern history of the country. Under the terms of the British mandate for Palestine, the British colonial state effectively functioned as OR introduced a system of institutional violence; it set up a Kafkaesque order that incorporated the Palestinian Arab indigenous people in a polity that denied their right of self-determination and imposed a framework on the native population that was designed to facilitate and enable the European Jewish settler colonisation of the country to create a homeland for the Jews of Europe.
